OUR CENTRE

Our centre is at 419 Pollen Street, right in the middle of Thames, on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Students come to the centre for professional tutoring, from schools in Thames, on the Thames coast, from Ngatea, Waitakaruru, Coromandel and places in between. We also welcome home schoolers, and those at the Correspondence School for personalised tutoring, and help with schoolwork.

Many local schools recommend students come to Kip McGrath, for extension, or to catch up.

You are welcome to call in, any time the centre is open, to discuss your school age child, and their progress at school.

A word from Ceri Parr, the Director.

Kip McGrath has been part of the Thames landscape since 2004 -  so that is 8 successful years of providing tutoring to students from every local school, and to a few adults.  I have owned Kip McGrath Centres in Merivale, Avonhead, Waihi and Paeora over the last 20 years, in between stints at primary, secondary and tertiary level teaching.  My speciality has been Literacy, and I have undertaken considerable professional development in numeracy as well.

 

 

 

 

In my spare time, I love interesting travel, photography, music and walking our Tibetan terrier.  I have even tried tandem touring and canal boat driving.

The Thames Kip McGrath Education Centre’s tutors are an exceptional team who provide caring support to all students – from those needing extra maths tutoring to students wanting to push themselves a little harder with our Extension Programs. All of the Centre’s tutors are hand-picked and are fully qualified.

What We Do

Our Education Centre provides tutoring for children and young people. It delivers the following individually tailored programs to help students catch up, or keep up, or get ahead. Extension, support, remediation – we can help.

The first step is a free educational consultation.

What happens at the free consultation?

The initial interview with the students and parents is a very important part of our service.

  • We carry out a comprehensive educational needs assessment
  • We decide if tutoring is the best option. and refer to other agencies if necessary.
  • We establish the expectations of the parents and of the centre.
  • We plan an individualised programme for your child to target their specific needs.
