About Us

As one of the 100 Kip McGrath Centres throughout New Zealand, and one of the 680 franchises throughout the world, we have an internationally trusted name in tutoring. The Te Kuiti Kip McGrath Centre has been successfully providing after school tuition since 2003.

The centre is located in Rora Street, on the first floor of the Lamb Bain Laubscher Building. In July 2007, a branch was opened in Otorohanga and this centre caters for children from Pokuru in the north to Hangatiki in the south. The Otorohanga Kip McGrath is conveniently located upstairs in the RD1 Building on Tuhoro Street.

Local school teacher Katharine Beaumont owns and operates the Te Kuiti Centre. The Centre has steadily grown and caters for a greater number of students and a more diverse range of learning needs with an increased number of specialised programmes. Course Features and Benefits

At Kip McGrath material is graded so that progress is constant and accelerated. Our students work through their own individual programme which is planned to motivate and challenge. The confidence gained through success enables them to achieve their potential.

We provide:
  • Free educational assessment for all new students
  • Individual educational programmes that get the best from each child
  • 80 minute sessions including one to one teaching
  • A balance of cutting edge computer programmes and traditional book work
  • Sessions Monday to Thursday after school, and Saturday mornings
  • Sessions during the day when required
  • Regular re-assessments with parent/tutor discussions
  • Ngai Tahu funding for students who qualify for this
  • Flexible payment options
Our centres reinforce that optimum accelerated learning occurs when the following factors are in place:
  • Supportive home environment
  • Active engagement in school learning
  • Tutoring programme that is tailored to the student's needs

We are therefore a factor of the equation, not the complete solution. We believe home study and school effort are just as vital as the tutoring programme. This is why we reward work effort, attitude to learning and homework completion in our centres.

What Our Parents, Students and Schools Say

“Our son has been attending Kip McGrath for over 3 years. The improvement in his reading, writing and maths has been excellent. He has become so much more confident and happy at school. It has been a worthwhile investment in his education.” - Karen & Wayne (Parents)

“I found Kip McGrath helped my daughter prepare for high school. It taught her important skills for being able to solve maths and English problems on her own and helped boost her self confidence.” - Jayne (Parent)

“My son was failing in more than one class at school, but now there’s a balance in all his classes. He used to say that school was hard and now he comes home and tells me that he’s ninth in his class at spelling. From being a child who disliked any type of education, he’s now really doing well in his studies.” - Gloriana (Parent)

“Two years ago we decided to bring our son in to get him 'up to speed' before his entrance to high school. This helped him immensely and gave him confidence to tackle new challenges. Then we started our younger son last year for two sessions a week. He ended his maths tuition last year with fantastic results in his end of year school exams. The extra learning for both boys has not only helped them advance, it has boosted their self-confidence, self-esteem and belief in themselves. The regular feedback and frequent progress checks are really appreciated. Katharine and her team are a wonderful group of skilled and dedicated teachers. We are so fortunate to have the centre in our town. My husband and I are extremely grateful for all the help our boys have received.” - Sheryl & David (Parents)

“I never used to like maths, but I do now.” - Sidney (Y8 Student – after 4 weeks at Kip McGrath)

“The programmes complement what is being taught at school and I have noticed in some of our children who regularly attend the after-school sessions, achievement and confidence gains which seem to be attributable to the one-to-one professional help that Kip McGrath offers. As far as Kip McGrath being involved with us, it's been our pleasure. I'm pleased that we could offer a home (in our school) and that our children could have the opportunity to use your services. - Neil (Principal)
