About Us
Our Educational Team
Our Kip McGrath Education Centre teachers are an exceptional team carefully hand picked for their skills. They provide caring support for all students – from those needing extra tutoring to catch up to students wanting to push themselves with our Extension Programmes. All our tutors are trained and experienced teachers.
Our Teaching Philosophy
WE provide educational success for students by taking their learning seriously through:
- Employing trained teachers - not high school students
- Having 1 hour 20 minute sessions - not 60 minutes
- Using a variety of skills based approaches - not just computer learning
- Individualising programmes and numeracy, reading, writing and spelling.
Kip McGrath Education Centres provide a positive and supportive learning environment. This promotes self esteem, boosts confidence and helps students achieve their potential. Our goal is to make learning enjoyable.

What our Students and Parents Say
“The decision to send our child to Kip McGrath was quite simple. WE were faced with her school grades showing her maths was in the low to mid band and she wasn’t enjoying the subject. The helping hand given by Kip McGrath made all the difference. Not only did she move to the top end of her maths class, her enjoyment of the subject also grew.
We are very grateful to the tutors at Kip McGrath for providing the tools and expertise to make this possible.”
Richard Conroy, Khandallah, Wellington
“Since attending Kip McGrath Eric’s confidence at school has increased dramatically, he is no longer afraid of making mistakes and is eager to learn.
Kip McGrath makes learning fun and Eric genuinely looks forward to going each week. The one-to-one attention is very important and the focus on praising the children very good.
Eric’s attitude in class and at home when doing homework has totally changed, now homework is done in ½ hour and no longer a chore. Sending Eric to Kip McGrath was the best decision we ever made!”
Silvia Zanini & Adam Donson, Karori, Wellington
“We enrolled our daughter at Kip McGrath for Y11 English after she received some non achieved marks for her essays and would not complete any more assignments. The tutor’s gentle guidance on how to read questions and answer them with the appropriate text types improved her writing immediately.
The confidence she gained not only helped her in English but in her attitude towards all her schooling. She passed the external NCEA exam with Merit much to her delight.”
Sharron Hagen, Wellington
