About Us

Judith and Rick Kramer purchased the Kip McGrath Education Centers for Tauranga and Mt Maunganui at the end of 2001 and are now in their ninth year of providing excellent, educational services to the students of the Bay. These services include tuition in literacy and numeracy, as well as testing for Irlen Syndrome (visual perceptual difficulty - www.irlen.com) and Dyslexia. We cater for pre-schoolers through to year 13. Adults and children are welcome to be tested for Irlen Syndrome and Dyslexia.

Our Educational Team

The teaching team at the Tauranga/Mt Maunganui Kip McGrath Education Centers are qualified, experienced teachers who provide a caring, encouraging learning environment for the students in both maths and English. The staff are able to cater for all students needs, be it ‘catching up, keeping up or keeping ahead’.

Our Teaching Philosophy

The Tauranga/Mt Maunganui Kip McGrath Education Centers provide a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes self-esteem, boosts every child’s confidence and increases skill level in maths and/or English.

Bringing your children in for a FREE assessment and consultation is the best thing you’ll ever do for them. Since taking over the center several years ago we have assessed, taught and monitored the education of, in excess of 3000 children.

We are able to provide educational success for students by taking their learning seriously through

• Employing trained teachers – not high school students.
• Having one hour twenty minute lessons – not sixty minutes.
• Using a variety of skills based learning approaches – not just computer learning.
• Individualized programmes in numeracy, reading ,writing and spelling.

The enormous benefits of tuition can be seen in an improvement in skills, knowledge and application. With the success in achievement at school, comes the inevitable increase in self confidence and self esteem. Tuition reinforces successful learning habits and instills learning as something to be valued throughout life.

• Live Wire Learning – secondary Maths and English
• Holiday Workshops
• NCEA exam prep – supporting students as they prepare for exams.
• Dyslexia screening – Irlen screening for adults/students with reading and perceptual difficulties. (see www.irlen.com)
• Dyslexia tuition - tuition for students with Dyslexia in conjunction with the Learning Staircase (see www.learningstaircase.co.nz)
• The Learning Staircase (info@learningstaircase.co.nz) A unique programme for children with low literacy skills and/or dyslexia.
• Cellfield Intervention – a neuroscientific breakthrough for reading difficulties. (www.cellfield.com)

• Free educational assessment for all new students.
• Individual educational programmes that enable students to succeed and progress.
• After school sessions to suit busy schedules
• Classes available during school hours.

Class Highlights 80 minute sessions featuring a positive and fun learning environment. Homework set and marked to help students put their knowledge into practice. Computer assisted learning. Qualified and experienced teachers who love their job and are always happy to provide feedback.
