Papakura Centre Details

About Us

The Papakura Centre was established by Director Lesley Sharp over ten years ago. More recently Joanna has joined the team as co director. The Centre is located upstairs at 28 Broadway next door to the ASB bank. The centre provides tuition for children in the wider Papakura area and operates a satellite centre at Waiuku on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Lesley lives locally and previously taught at many of the local schools. She has extensive educational expertise and brings a wealth of experience as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal and past director of the Papakura Teachers Centre. Lesley also established the Papakura, Pukekohe, and Waiuku Kip McGrath Centres as well as ran the Manurewa Centre for two years. She is currently operating the Papakura and Waiuku Centres. Lesley is highly skilled in ascertaining each child’s educational needs and provides a tailor made programme to maximize children’s learning opportunities.

Lesley and her committed team enjoy helping students with difficulties and seeing them improve in their confidence and self esteem. The team also caters for those who are aiming to add an extra edge to their already capable skills.

Joanna enhances the team with her local and overseas teaching experiences. She also has expertise in the area of children’s emotional well being and factors that affect their ability to learn. Her master’s thesis in education counselling and speaking/teaching positions add to her areas of expertise. She has also worked with government agencies in assisting children in this area.

Our centre’s tutors are enthusiastic, qualified and positive when working alongside the children and young people. The team draws from a wealth of experience such as ESOL, reading recovery and extension programmes, behavourial and child counselling backgrounds. We continue to be thrilled with the feedback we have from our students and parents who attend our centre.
