About Us
In 2011, Kip McGrath celebrates five years in the Horowhenua. New directors, Geoff Holland and Jill Haldane are excited about fostering continued educational success for the region’s students.
Geoff Holland is an English and Mathematics teacher with 30 years experience in secondary schools from Dargaville in the north to Christchurch in the south. Before taking on the Kip McGrath franchise he was the International English Language Testing System administrator at Massey University.
Jill Haldane is originally from Scotland, and she has been in New Zealand for 12 years. She had been teaching at the Levin centre for the past four years before becoming co-director at the start of 2011. Jill also teaches English Language at Massey and she has three children.
Geoff and Jill are supported by their families; Geoff’s wife, Ruth, is a History and English teacher of long-standing, currently at Otaki College, and Jill’s partner, Gavin, is a Geography/Social Studies teacher, formerly of Horowhenua College.
Passionate about literacy and numeracy, Levin is very lucky to have Lisa Collinson in her fifth year of tutoring at the centre. Lisa has completed her Masters Degree in Special Education and is working as a Resource Teacher Learning and Behaviour in the Horowhenua district.
We are open four days a week, Monday through to Thursday, for after-school tutoring sessions: 3.45pm – 5.05pm, then 5.15pm -6.35pm. Tutoring outside these hours is on an individual basis. There is wheelchair access and toilet facilities for wheel-bound learners. Our centre is situated in the heart of the Levin CBD: on State Highway 1, 262a Oxford St, Levin (opposite McDonald’s).
What We Do
All centres provide a quality education in both remedial and extension work, tailored to the student’s individual needs. All students set a learning goal in order for us to help them progress toward achievement in literacy and numeracy. Kip McGrath Levin believes learning success lies in a three-way communication between school, home and Kip McGrath.
