About Us
Kip McGrath Education Centres was established in New Zealand in 1991 by David and Judy Wardell when they opened the first Kip McGrath Education Centre in Manurewa, Auckland. Both David and Judy were New Zealand trained teachers who had taught at both primary and secondary levels.
David also had more than 20 years’ experience as a principal of a number of New Zealand schools. An Education and Psychology graduate of the University of Waikato, he also held an Advanced Diploma of Teaching. As founding CEO, he grew the company to 102 Centres across New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Jonathan and Dianne Anderson took over as Master Franchisees in January 2006, having enjoyed working in Kip McGrath since 1996 when first trained by David Wardell.
They subsequently established the Kilbirnie Kip McGrath Education Centre in East Wellington.
In 2003 they moved to the UK where they ran the very successful South Woodford Kip McGrath Centre in North-East London.
Jonathan also worked with UK Master Franchisees Kam and Ambika Pindoria in the growth and development of Kip McGrath in London and East Anglia.
Both Jonathan and Dianne are teachers who love working with children and seeing them succeed.
Jonathan also enjoys working with all the Kip McGrath Directors and teachers across New Zealand and the South Pacific. “They are a hugely talented group of people, all of whom have a passion for helping children to succeed”, he says, “and I’m privileged to be able to work together with them in helping parents to give their children access to the very best opportunities to succeed in their education.” Jonathan and Dianne have three children of their own, Daniel (who is completing a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Bristol University), Joannah (Year 11) and Joshua (Year 10). |

Kip McGrath Head Office for New Zealand and the South Pacific is located in Howick in Auckland’s Eastern suburbs, close to the Howick shops and local amenities. The Howick Kip McGrath Centre also operates from the same sunny location. |

Every Kip McGrath Centre is a supportive and caring environment where students are encouraged to learn effectively using a wide variety of teaching methods and tools, from computer programmes to book based and written activities. Programmes are individualised to meet the learning needs of every child and regular feedback is given to parents. Student’s needs are initially assessed via a consultation at the Centre which is a free service to parents in the community.
Regular, on-going assessment is also a feature of the Kip McGrath programme so that parents are aware at all times of the progress being made. Kip Directors also welcome input from the student’s school teacher so that the good work being done in the school classroom setting can be supported and backed up by the Kip McGrath tutor.

What We Do

- As qualified teachers, all our Directors are also trained in Kip McGrath methodology and business practice.
- Head Office also liases with teachers wishing to purchase their own Kip McGrath Franchise and seeks to provide an effective, professional tutoring environment across all Centres in New Zealand and the South Pacific, to the ongoing benefit of all our students and families.
