Introducing the Director… Bryan Thomson

Welcome to the Cambridge and Te Awamutu web pages! I’m Bryan, and after 16 fulltime years as a Kip McGrath Director, I still love making an educational and personal difference for individuals and their futures every day!
I established my first Kip McGrath Education Centre way back in 1992 after a full career in Primary, Secondary, Community and Tertiary teaching. I had also operated successful part-time businesses in professional photography and video production over 20 years.
Within a few months an initial roll of 150 students per week determined I leave my University post as Lecturer in Language and Communications, to provide much-needed fulltime professional tuition services. Along with five staff, from 1996 the Cambridge and Te Awamutu Centres were added to the portfolio. From 2003 these Waipa Centres and their students have become my primary mission and focus.
In the past I have travelled extensively, including as a Service Club representative. These days I still find time to serve on the Boards for a Hamilton school and for the Mighty River Harmony Barbershop Chorus, which performs and competes in singing locally and internationally, and mentors youth in the values and disciplines of all aspects of harmony.
The Kip Education Team
We believe that all our students deserve a well-qualified and positive teacher who knows the curriculum and the appropriate levels. Every Kip McGrath tutor is a talented teacher who builds a close personal rapport with their students. Parents and caregivers are invited to be a part of our students’ success by maintaining a close relationship with their tutor and getting weekly feedback. Improved school results and increasing confidence are the two key components that we look for in every Kip McGrath student. With a dedicated teacher and loads of support and encouragement from all, every Kip McGrath student can experience success.
